NOT ideal for generators
The description says it is ideal for generators so I thought it would be handy hooked permanently to my genny, right next to its governor adjustment. Unfortunately, this meter is no better than a toy. If you only need accuracy to within a few percent, it may be a good choice for your project. Straight out of the box, connected to the 120VAC line, this one read 59.0Hz when my bench counter showed 60.01023Hz. There is a tiny trimmer on the meters pcb that has a wide adjustment range, I could make the meter read anywhere from below 50Hz to above 70Hz. The trimmer requires a delicate touch to get within a tenth of a Hz. I adjusted the reading to 60.0 and left it for 10-15 minutes. Upon returning, while the bench counter showed 59.99878 this counter said 59.7Hz. Just now as I write this review my bench shows 59.99712 and the meter shows 60.0Hz So, the meter cannot hold accuracy. Perhaps small temperature variations are a cause, I only know this meter will not be useful to me. I give it a couple of stars because it looks nice and does indeed work over a large AC voltage range.
